The land
The terrain is "slate" (Tertiary coal) and silt from Quaternary, has its own water source and oriented towards the north, northeast.
The Mas has almost 20 acres, of these almost 10 are cultivated. There is 6000 strains of Cabernet Sauvignon, 6000 of garnacha and 2000 of cariñena or samso. There are 2 types of garnacha, the liquorice and the priotanine, both varieties are proper of the region. For the elaboration of Mas de l’Abundancia we buy around 800 kg of garnacha of 80-100 years and as much cariñena or samso of a friend who has a “clos”.
The Mas is just in between the river and the Ermita and is between 100 and 160 metres over sea level. On its lowest level near the river, is where the cabernet sauvignon is found. It has been imported from the best french varieties. On the highest parts there is garnacha and samso. The plantation is an asnwer to the peculiar situation of the land and its organoleptic qualities, which allows having high performances resulting to high quality wines.
