The people behind

Jesús del Rio left his native Masroig young to live in Barcelona, he came to work in international transports and has a large international experience.

Reaching a mature age he dreamt of going back to his peasant roots. He bought a piece of land famous for making good wine close to his native village. His project is about passion. To live among the vines in his native land is his goal, and as a man from peasant origin, he has a great love for his vineyards.

Jesús had developed a love for Cabernet wines, so he made sure he bought land that is among the most suitable for Cabernet, and has the classical Licorella soil. Bad luck it is D.O Montsant despite being inside Priorat, but Jesús thinks that the quality of the vineyard is more important than the reputation of the name.

Jesús wants his property to be recognised for its true potential. If it can not be a Priorat as it should, it must be the best among Montsant. He does not strive for critics to say wow at blind tasting, but wants a wine which drinks great with food and that always is interesting. His goal is to have a living wine, full of complexity and which changes as you drink a bottle over a few hours. A wine balanced - not powerful, complex - not oaky, a “drinking” wine - not a “tasting” wine.

Andreu is the expert in how to do this. He is trained in oenology and viticulture, but the latter is his true passion. He is young but with experience from some of the best vineyards in the area. With two such persons devoted to the land, the philosophy of the Bodega is of course that wine is made in the vineyards. Nevertheless, cellar work is important. Andreu is a young and curious person, always wanting to learn more and not afraid of being unorthodox. This is one of the reasons why Flvminis is oaked only to 40%, something quite unusual. The reason? To conserve complexity from the grapes, increase drinkability and get a balanced wine.

Fredrik Svensson also takes a part in this winery. He helps Jesús foremost to sell his wine, but with his 3 years of working with making terroir wine he serves as the outside perspective helping to develop the Bodega’s true potential.
